Chartis Appoints Senior Vice President, General Counsel
Chartis, a property-casualty and general insurance provider, has appointed Thomas Scherer as senior vice president and general counsel, who will be responsible for the company's worldwide legal operations.
Mr Scherer has managed legal, compliance and operations staffs in reinsurance and financial services organizations. He has worked for 7 years at Swiss Re Group where he served as special litigation counsel and chief compliance officer.
He served as COO and general counsel for the financial markets division and group deputy general counsel at Swiss Re. Mr Scherer also worked at Morgan Stanley in New York as compliance director and managing director, and in Hong Kong as compliance director, litigation counsel and vice president for Morgan Stanley Asia.
