Published 09 August 2017

French maker of sugar, starch and bioethanol Tereos in partnership with Wilmar Group has launched a wheat starch processing plant and a corn starch processing plant in China.

China, which has 1.3 billion inhabitants, is the largest global consumer and importer of starch.

Tereos has a wheat starch processing plant in Dongguan, in the South of the country, and a corn starch processing plant in Tieling in the North.

Another country where the Group operates is Indonesia. The country has 250 million inhabitants, and is experiencing rapid population growth. The consumption of sugar and starch in Indonesia is increasing sharply. Tereos has the only corn starch processing plant in Indonesia, in partnership with the FKS Group.

Tereos set up an applied R&D unit in Shanghai in 2017, in collaboration with Wilmar, its partner, in order to increase its support for its Asian clients.
